5.5 Using the Start Screen
The Start screen is where you open apps and utilities. It is filled with Live Tiles that display real time
notifications and updates.

Status bar
Displays the status icons, notification icons, and current time.

Live tiles
Displays the some apps in your device. You can add, remove, or edit these tiles.

The Start screen has long pages. To view other section of the start screen, swipe your finger up or down.
You can add or delete contacts, apps, feeds, mailboxes, websites, and other favorites as tiles on the Start
screen. You can also rearrange or resize the tiles. For more information about personalizing the Start screen,
refer to
Customizing Your Start Screen on page 22
.

To return to the Start screen, tap the Start button
at any time from any menu or app.

To view the previously opened apps, tap and hold the Back button
and swipe between the apps.
Tap any app to open it again.
