9.1  Introduction

This chapter describes the mechanical characteristics of the Karbon-CL. This includes 
description of all of the connectors on the board and pin-outs for these connectors. 

The Karbon-CL is available in two version. The KBN-PCE-CL2, which consists just of 
the main board, and the KBN-PCE-CL4 which consists of the main board plus the aux-
iliary board. The primary purpose of the auxiliary board is to hold the third and fourth 
Camera Link connectors. This board does not need to be in a PCI Express slot. In fact, 
it does not require any power from the PC and can be located in any slot that is not 
used.

The mechanical layout of the Karbon-CL main board is shown in Figure 9-1. The 
mechanical layout of the Karbon-CL auxiliary board is shown in Figure 9-2.
