16. Field of detection
The presence detector has a field of
detection of 360°.
The PIR sensor array is composed of 6
levels of detection and 80 lenses.
The field of detection measures approx.
5 m in diameter at desktop level (approx.
80 cm). On the floor, the diameter of the
detection field measures approx. 8 m.
These figures are referred to a height
above floor level of 2.5 m with the device
being installed under the ceiling.
Significantly greater fitting heights reduce
the sensitivty of the device to
movements.

Important
If movements are directed towards the
presence detector, detection range
losses must be expected. In this case,
detection in the outer 4-m circle is not
ensured, so that there may be the
impression of range reductions. Observe
also the possible turn-on delays of the
lamps used.
The automatic function of the presence detector is reactivated only after the locking
time has elapsed. This means that all detected movements will switch on the lamps
depending on the prevailing brightness conditions.
Important
In presence detectors connected in parallel, the locking times of the indivi-
dual units are independent of one another. The lamps may therefore
switch on unintentionally, when the locking time in one of the detectors has
elapsed and when this detector then detects a movement.
15. Response in the event of mains failure
shorter than 200 ms On return of the mains, the old switching state is restored.
longer than 200 ms The presence detector effects a self-test on return of the
mains. The test lasts up to 30 s. During this time, the lighting
is on. It is then switched off and the presence detector is
ready for operation. During the self-test, no operation is
possible.
