6.4 Resistance measuring (R/RTD)

RTD stands for resistance temperature device, what means temperature-dependent resistance.
For resistance measurement/RTD measurement:
• select the measuring range and the 2/3/4-wire connection via CoE object 0x80n0 [ } 53] : (RTD settings
channel n)

Connection method
If an incorrect connection method is selected, the measurement is generally nevertheless
successful, although the specified accuracy is not reached.
• if necessary, select the required resistance transformation (i.e. the RTD element) in CoE object
0x80n0:19 [

• data processing features of the ELX320x (filter and user scaling) can be used.
Result: The resistance or the temperature at the sensor can be read via the Value variable or the CoE object
0x600n.11 [ } 61] and is then available in a PLC program, for example.

Diagnosis: safety of operation
For increased operational reliability and simple diagnosis (keyword: wire break diagnosis), the status word
[ } 63] can be used to read out when the underrange/overrange limits are reached.
