DANGER!

The operating mode ("With encoder" / "Without encoder") can be activated axis-
specific in the controller by ProDrive in the menu. The following must be selected 
when using "Operating mode" (P019.052):

m

„Start page\Axis1\Configuration\Motor\Motor-In general\Motor-Type" or

m

„Start page\Axis2\Configuration\Motor\Motor-In general\Motor-Type"

If the controller is operated in the "Open Loop" (encoderless) mode, then encoder-
dependent safety functions may not be parameterized!

Acknowledgment encoder fail status

In the Module version "Software extension" the encoder fail status can be acknowledged 
by the controller again. In order to do this, the following must be complied with: 

m

Deactivate all of the safety functions. 

m

Acknowledge the message "Encoder fail" in the controller. 

m

Generate a movement at the drive, so that the module can reset the internal 
diagnostic time leading to the encoder fail. 

m

If position-dependent safety functions were defined homing must be executed once 
more. 

Optionally to the controller, the message "Encoder fail" can be acknowledged by the S1 
key of the SAF module. The key must be pressed approximately 500 ms. The green LED 
H2 lights up if the key is pressed. 

NOTE!

The encoder fail status can be acknowledged, if prior to this all of the safety functions 
were deactivated. After this, a movement of the drive must be carried out, so that the 
module detects a movement of the encoder and can reset the internal diagnostic 
time. 

When using the safety function SLP or SCA homing must be carried out once more 
as a safe absolute position is required. 

DANGER!

Before the deactivation of safety functions it must be considered that all persons keep 
the distance from the danger range of the machine or installation or that all persons 
on-site were informed about the planned deactivation of the safety functions and of 
the following movement. 

Only until afterwards the safety functions may be deactivated and the drive or the 
machine may be used!
