Inserting the batteries

•  Unscrew two screws at the back of the water detector. Then take the two halves of the hous-

ing apart. Take note of the orientation.

•  Insert three batteries of type AAA/Micro into the battery compartment observing the correct 

polarity. The positive/negative pole is marked on the batteries and in the battery compart-

ment.

•  Close the housing and screw in the screws.

Installation and connection

a) Installation of the water detector

The water detector can be mounted in a suitable location using the adhesive strips at the back. 

The bonding position must be flat, clean and grease-free.

  Make sure that the water detector does not get wet. Only the sensor and cable are 

protected from contact with water. If the water detector is not attached, but merely 

placed/laid down, make sure that it cannot fall into the water.

b) Installation of the sensor

Fix the bracket for the sensor in a suitable spot. The adhesive strips 

are attached to the back of the bracket. The bonding position must be 

flat, clean and grease-free.

   The bracket must be glued so that the sensor can be in-

serted from above and the two contacts point towards the 

water surface.

 

An alarm is triggered only if both sensor pins (see image 

above, position 7) are in the water.

c) Connecting the potential-free switch contact

The water detector has a potential-free switch contact (2.5 mm jack socket). When the alarm 

sounds, the water detector activates the switch contact (NO switch contact).
Using the enclosed connection cable, the switch contact can be connected to a suitable alarm 

system or signal light, for example.

   Please note the contact current capacity of the switch contact. The mains voltage or 

other dangerous voltages must never be connected to the switch contact! There is a 

risk of a life-threatening electric shock!

Operation

•  Turn on the water detector by switching the on/off switch (2) on (switch position “ON”).
•  The water detector triggers an alarm when the water level reaches the two sensor contact 

pins. A loud alarm sound is emitted. The potential-free switch contact is activated simultane-

ously

  Do a short function test to check the water detector is ready for operation. For this 

you may immerse the sensor in water. The alarm will sound as long as the pins are 

in the water. If necessary, dry the contacts after the function test. 

 

You can also perform a function test by touching the two contact pins with a damp 

finger.

  The alarm sound is very loud. Cover the holes (3) on the front of the water detector, 

for example, to decrease the volume.

•  If you don‘t need the water detector any longer, switch it off (switch position “OFF”).

Maintenance and cleaning

The product is maintenance-free for you; you should never dismantle it (except for inserting or 

replacing the batteries as described in these operating instructions). Servicing or repair may 

only be carried out by a specialist.
Use a clean, dry, soft cloth for cleaning. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents as these can 

cause discolouration.

Troubleshooting

Alarm does not sound during the function test
•  Replace the batteries with new ones.
•  Check if the batteries are inserted according to the right polarity.
Switch output does not work
•  The switch output (2.5 mm jack socket) is a potential-free NO contact. When the alarm 

sounds, it means the two switch contacts are connected. For an alarm system, for example, 

be sure to use the appropriate input.

•  Check that the 2.5 mm jack plug is fully inserted into the socket of the water detector.
No or unreliable water level notification
•  Clean the sensor. 
•  Both sensor pins must be in the water for alarm to sound.
•  Replace the batteries with new ones.

Disposal

a) Product

  Electronic devices are recyclable and do not belong in the household waste. Dis-

pose of an unserviceable device in accordance with the relevant statutory regula-

tions.

 

Remove any inserted batteries/rechargeable batteries and dispose of them sepa-

rately from the product.

b) Primary batteries and secondary batteries

As an end user, you are required by law (battery ordinance) to return all used batteries and 

rechargeable batteries; it is not permitted to dispose of batteries with normal household waste.

  Batteries/rechargeable batteries containing hazardous substances are labelled with 

these symbols to indicate that the disposal of them in the household waste is for-

bidden. The designations for the heavy metals involved are: Cd = cadmium, Hg = 

mercury, Pb = lead.

Used batteries, rechargeable batteries and coin cells can be returned to collection points in 

your municipality, our stores or wherever batteries/rechargeable batteries/coin cells are sold.
That way you fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environ-

ment!
