Barco Media Server software is secured by the CodeMeter hardware and software licens-
ing solution. A local runtime application,

CodeMeter Control Center

(also known as

CodeMeter User Runtime

) manages the licenses associated with each unique server. An

XHD-Series license (software license) comes preinstalled on all servers. An XDG-100
Designer (hardware dongle) contains the licenses required to operate Barco Media
Server software on another machine. Generally, proper operation and license function-
ality requires no user interaction.

2.7.1

CodeMeter Control Center

The CodeMeter Control Center runtime application must run on each machine on which
Barco Media Server software is expected to run. CodeMeter Control Center is the local
management tool for hardware and software licenses, and it also plays a crucial part in
updating licenses remotely. CodeMeter Control Center is preinstalled on all Barco Media
Servers, and it is also part of the Barco Media Server software installer.

2.7.2

Launching CodeMeter Control Center

Use the CodeMeter Control Center to check current licenses or request an update for
an existing license. Launch the CodeMeter Control Center with a single step.
