4.1 Introduction
With the standard variants, configuration is done exclusively
via the display and the buttons on the receiver. The IO-Link
variants can also be configured via IO-Link.
After the unit is powered up, it is ready to use and displays
the current measurement values. The data is output accor-
ding to the parameters set during the last use, or when the
device is initially commissioned or reset to factory settings
according to the default settings.
The LEDs on the device serve as status indicators:
LED 1 (green): Device is switched on / flashing : IO-Link is
active.
LED 2 (orange): An object is located in the measurement field.
4.2
Configuration of the analog output values
The analog output values 1 and 2 can be configured inde-
pendently of each other and selected by setting the corres-
ponding parameters. The setting options are the same for
both output values.
The factory setting of the device for analog output value 1
is "left object edge" and for analog output value 2 "right
object edge". "Right" and "Left" correspond to the marking
on the receiver housing.
The following modes are available for selection:

Description
Left
object
edge
LO
1
For web edge guide control. Object
enters the light band from the left (L).
The distance of the leading / front
edge of the object from the left (L)
edge of the measuring field is
displayed. (This is the first falling
signal edge when evaluating the light
band from R to L.)
Left slit
edge
LS
2
First edge of a slit measured from
the left (L) edge of the light band.
(This is the first rising signal edge
when evaluating the light band from
R to L.)
Right
object

RO
3
For web edge guide control. Object
enters the light band from the right
(R). The distance of the leading /
front edge of the object from the
right (R) edge of the measuring field
is displayed. (This is the first falling
signal edge when evaluating the light
band from L to R.)
Right

RS
4
First edge of a slit measured from
the right (R) edge of the light band.
(This is the first rising signal edge
when evaluating the light band from
L to R.)

5
Object diameter (outside diameter,
i.e. holes or slits within the object are
ignored.)

Slit width (inside diameter)

Object position (center point)

Slit position (center point) measured

Function is deactivated. The output
value is always 0.
Tab. 4-1: Measuring modes
Exemplary cases are presented below to explain the modes:
4.2.1 One edge
To detect an edge brought into the measurement field from
the right side (right edge of the measurement field is
covered), set “Right Object” (RO) as the mode for an
analog output value.
The distance of the edge from the right border of the mea-
surement field is displayed as the measured value. If the
distance needs to be measured from the left field border, set
“Left Slit” (LS).
Fig. 4-1: One edge in the light band
In this case no value is output for "Left object edge" (LO) or
"Right slit edge" (RS).
Since there is only one edge, no value is output for slit and
diameter either.
In the case of a completely covered light band, the position
of the right and left edge is indicated with the maximum
value.
In this case, for IO-Link devices, the value "Full coverage" is
also set to "true" in the process data.
