Engine with a discharged battery may be started by
Jump Leads from a battery of another
vehicle/Booster battery.
Make sure that battery providing jump start has
same voltage rating as the battery receiving the
jump(12V).
• Apply parking brake & shift the vehicle to Neutral.
Switch off all electrical accessories.
• Connect one clamp of Jumper cable to Positive
(+ve) of charged battery. Connect the other end
of the jumper cable to Positive (+ve) terminal of
discharged battery.
• Similarly connect the Jumper cable clamp to
Negative (-ve) terminal of charged battery and
then the other end of Jumper cable to be
connected to -a solid metal patch attached to

engine block OR unpainted metal (Engine) part
which is away from the discharged battery.
• Crank and start the engine.
• While disconnecting follow reverse order i.e.
disconnect Negative (-ve) lead followed by Positive
(+ve) lead.
Caution:
- Do not connect negative (-ve ) terminal of charged
battery to the negative (-ve ) terminal of discharged
battery. This may lead to an explosion and serious
personal injury.
- Batteries contain environmentally-hazardous
materials.
- Do not dispose of batteries as household waste.
Warning:
- Battery Acid cause serious chemical burns.
- Keep batteries out of the reach of children.
- Wear suitable protective clothing & safety glasses.
- Keep sparks or open flames away from the battery.
- Only charge batteries in well-ventilated rooms.
- Avoid contact with battery acid & battery gases.
- Rinse the affected area immediately with plenty of
water in the event of contact with the skin.
