4G. DRIVING IN ADVERSE CONDITIONS:
Caution :
Driving Through Water :
Never attempt to drive vehicle through deep water logged roads, If at all the situation demands that you have to drive
through water then adopt the following measures.
- Keep engine at high revs and drive the vehicle in low gear.
- Avoid stopping/switching “OFF” the engine.
- After driving through water, apply brakes several times to dry the brake liners and to regain original braking.
- Avoid driving at high speeds till you are convinced of safe braking distances.
Caution :
Driving on a Rainy Day :
- Aquaplaning may occur on rainy days wherein you can loose control of vehicle while driving on wet roads. The best
way to avoid aquaplaning is to drive the vehicle at low speeds.
- Avoid harsh braking and taking sharp turns at high speeds. It may cause loss of vehicle control. For slowing down,
shift to lower gears and brake gently. Keep lights “ON” if visibility is poor.
Caution :
Night Driving :
- Dip the head lamp for oncoming traffic during night driving. Maintain a speed such that you can
- Stop within illuminated distance of head lamps. Use head lamp main/low beam to alert other road users on
turns/cross roads etc.
- Use side indicators for lane change or turning. Activate hazard warning switch incase of hazardous parking or if
your vehicle is disabled. This is to warn oncoming and passing traffic.
