Installing the 3D Effects Option

This section describes how to install the 3D Effects Option. The following list
summarizes the procedures discussed in this section:

Powering off the Macintosh and Expansion Chassis

Using the grounding wrist-strap

Replacing the Expansion Chassis cover

Connecting the power harness

Changing the effects module

Setting the SCSI ID

Reconnecting the external cables

Powering Off the Macintosh and the Expansion Chassis

To power off the Macintosh and the Expansion Chassis perform the following
steps:

1. Power down the Macintosh by choosing Shut Down from the Special menu.

2. Power down any peripherals connected to the Macintosh.

3. Power down the Expansion Chassis.

4. Power down any peripherals connected to the Expansion Chassis.

Make sure that you power off both the Macintosh and the Expansion Chassis
before you open or remove the Expansion Chassis cover.

Using the Grounding Wrist-Strap

Your Avid system was shipped with a reusable grounding wrist-strap. To prevent
any damage to the Macintosh, the Expansion Chassis, or the interface card you
must wear the wrist-strap when handling the cards or connecting cables.

Put on the grounding wrist-strap now before you handle any cards or connect the
interface cable to the interface card. Make sure that you do not take off the wrist-
strap until you have completed all the procedures this chapter.
