Updating the Avid Configuration ROM
You need to make sure that the configuration ROM on the interface card has the
latest revision of the Expansion Chassis software installed before you add any
NuBus cards to the chassis.

Make sure that the interface cable is not connected to the Macintosh while you
are checking and updating the configuration ROM.
To update the configuration ROM:
1. Power on the Macintosh. The message “The Expansion Chassis is on a new
machine.” appears on the screen. This message prompts you to check the switch
settings in the Expansion Chassis.
2. Click Restart.
3. Open the Avid drive by double-clicking the drive icon.
4. Locate the Utilities folder and open it by double-clicking the folder icon.
5. Locate the Expansion View application and run it by double-clicking the icon.
6. Choose Upgrade Avid Chassis ROM from the Expansion Chassis menu.
7. When the upgrade is complete, restart the Macintosh.
8. Locate the Expansion View again and run it by double-clicking the icon.
9. Choose Text Slot Information from the Expansion Chassis menu.
10. Check the Slot Info column to ensure the Macintosh detects the interface card.
You should see Digidesign Expansion Chassis (PRAM) after the slot where you
installed the interface card. All other slots should appear as Empty or Not
Available. If you see anything different, contact Avid Customer Support for
assistance.
11. Choose Switch Settings from the Expansion Chassis menu. The Switch Setting
window shows you how to set the rotary switches in the Expansion Chassis for
your Macintosh. You’ll see a window that looks something like:
