Chapter 10: Troubleshooting the Indoor
access point
The following section describes troubleshooting diagnostics for the AP 8120 and AP 8120 with External
Antenna.
After you insert the CAT-5 cable into an AP port connector and enable PoE on the cable, observe the
device health or link LED to determine the status of the connection with the WC 8180.
• If the LED is blue and is glowing steadily, the AP was booted successfully by the WC 8180 and is
ready for operation.
• If the LED is not steadily glowing blue, see the following table.
For descriptions of all the LEDs, see Access Point 8120 and Access Point 8120 with External Antenna
external hardware features on page 10.

LED State Diagnostics Remedy
2.4 and 5 GHz LEDs are solid
blue; Link and Power LEDs are
unlit The AP is booting. This can happen when:
• the PoE on AP port was
disabled and enabled.
• the associated controller was
removed from the domain.
• the AP was removed from the
domain AP database and
configuration sync.
2.4 and 5 GHz LEDs are unlit;
Link and Power LEDs are solid
blue and green. This may occur when:
• radios are disabled.
• wireless capabilities have
been globally disabled.
• the associated controller has
not joined the domain.
• the AP was not added to the
domain AP database.
Use the following commands to
determine the cause:

show wireless ap-
profile radio
• show wireless
•
show wireless
domain-membership
• show wireless domain
ap database
