Chapter 1: New in this release
The following sections details what’s new in Avaya WLAN 8100 Installation – AP 8120 S eries
(NN47251-302) for Release 1.2.
Features
The AP 8120-O is a 2x2 outdoor dual concurrent access point providing 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz
Radio Frequencies (RF). The AP 8120-O radios support the 802.11a/n and 802.11b/g/n
standards. With certified IP-67 protection, the AP 8120-O delivers high reliability under harsh
outdoor environments. The AP 8120-O supports a bandwidth up to 300 Mbps per radio to
accommodate heavy traffic services such as multimedia streaming.
With the implementation of the AP 8120-O, additional hardware equipment such as the
Ethernet surge arrester, Power over Ethernet injector, and radio antenna, and the software
required to support the AP 8120-O are added to the hardware and software sections in this
guide. As well, installation and configuration procedures, and site planning considerations are
also documented for the AP 8120-O access point.
Other changes
This document is arranged to incorporate the indoor and outdoor installations of the AP
8120.
