Installing the Ethernet surge arrester

The indoor Ethernet surge arrester is an accessory used for lightning and surge protection for
indoor Ethernet equipment that connects to the AP 8120-O access point. The Ethernet surge
arrester is compatible with Power Over Ethernet (POE) devices and supports normal and
reverse polarity PoE. For a typical installation, refer to the following diagram.

Note:

If you are using the Avaya PoE injector, you are not required to connect the Ethernet surge
arrester because the Avaya PoE injector already has internal surge protection.

Warning:

The Ethernet surge arrester is an indoor unit only. You must not install the unit outdoors.

Operating specifications

The following table describes the operational ranges for the Ethernet surge arrester.

Procedure

1. Mount the Ethernet surge arrester to a wall, screwing the two screws into the

holes.
