Cleaning
Fig. 40: Cleaning the water reservoir:
To protect the piping system and the test chamber from dirt, the
water reservoir should be emptied before each new test program
and rinsed with clear water.
1. Open the left instrument door and rotate the retaining screws
using a screwdriver.
2. Connect the coupling

of the water reservoir drain hose

. The drain hose is located at the left side of the device
at the water reservoir.
3. Empty the water reservoir using the drain hose.
4. Disconnect the drain hose from the connecting sleeve.
5. Open the lower instrument door at the front side.
6. Remove the water reservoir.
7. Dry the reservoir using a clean cloth.
Cleaning filters and glass components:
Clean the UV special-glass exterior cylinder and the window
filters using a 20 % solution of citric acid, then rinse with
water.
Wipe the XENOCROME filter set clean using a clean cloth that
has been dampened with commercial alcohol or spirit.
NOTE - Handling filter plates
Residues from finger contact may burn into the
filter plates and cause uneven irradiation.

Wear clean cotton gloves for cleaning filter
and glass components.
Cleaning the test chamber:
Clean the test chamber using liquid stainless-steel cleaners
without chlorine compounds.
Rinse with pure water to prevent cleaning agent residues from
entering the water recirculation system.
Cleaning the instrument surface:
CAUTION - Plastic surfaces!
Parts of the instrument surface are made of
plastic material. Solvents may attack plastics
and make them unusable.
Do not clean the instrument surface and par-
ticularly the operating panel using solvents that
contain hydrocarbon.
Clean the instrument surface using a solution of tepid water and
commercial dishwashing agent, wipe the surface clean and dry
it using a clean cloth.
