Port Operating Modes

Overview

To cover a broad range of serial applications, the Serial Console Server’s COM
ports support several port operating modes. These include

Virtual Modem

Serial Tunnel

Console Management

, and

Real COM

Port modes, for device

control sessions, plus

TCP Server/Client

and

UDP

modes for socket

application purposes. An explanation of the functions performed by the various
operating modes is provided in the sections that follow.

The

Work Mode

is selectable from the

Port Access

Properties

page, under

Operation Mode

tab, as shown above. From this page you can set the Port

Operating Modes that are discussed in this chapter. See
