Startup Messages

Issue 2 April 1996

Action: Try the following procedure.

1. Check to see whether the connection between the Proxy Agent and

the PBX is up, and that the Proxy Agent is running and
communicating with the NMS.

2. Make sure that the PBX is in the Proxy Agent’s clients screen.

3. Try the refresh again.

ERROR: The switch type administered on the Proxy Agent is incompatible
with the switch type from the switch’s Vintage data. The basic switch types
must match for DEFINITY G3 Fault Management to continue. (The basic
switch types are G3i-286, G3i-386, G3r, G3s, and G3vs.) Please change the
switch type administered on the Proxy Agent to match the actual switch
type.

Action: Change the switch type administered on the Proxy Agent’s clients
screen to be compatible with the actual switch type.

Action: If the switch type is missing:

1. Open the Setup screen and set the Refresh Proxy Agent on Startup

field to TRUE.

2. Restart Fault Management.

Startup Messages

The following messages display during the startup process.

Usage: dg3fm host_name community_name [switch_name].

Description: The Fault Management application was started up with the
wrong parameters (OpenView only).

Action: The DEFINITY icon selection name and the name in the SNMP
Configuration entry for the PBX may not match. Change the incorrect
name and restart the Fault Management application.

DEFINITY G3 Fault Management: out of memory!

Description: The Fault Management application could not allocate
enough memory to run.

Action: To free up some memory, delete some windows and close some
active programs. Alternatively, you can add memory to the NMS computer.

Refresh on Startup Failed! Continuing with Cached Data.

Description: One of the following conditions is true:

■

The connection between the Proxy Agent and the PBX was not up
when you started Fault Management.

■

The last refresh failed.
