Internet Connectivity Options
The phone is able to connect to WiFi networks that enable an internet connection, and
therefore a SIP account if required. In this mode, it is able to act as an access point, to allow
other devices to connect to it wirelessly, to use the data on the SIM card as an internet
connection. This configuration is intended to be an alternative to the NBN.
If a VoIP account is required so that the phone can make phone calls over the internet, either
in addition or as a replacement for cellular calls, the phone can connect to an existing
network and gain internet access via the modem/router. This may be advantageous if a
landline phone number is to be used, and as a failover to cellular calls if the NBN is
disconnected for any reason. In this case, a SIM card is required.
As an Access Point
(no NBN on premise)
Phones, tablets and laptops can
connect to the Genius X2 to give them
internet access via data on the SIM
card.
As a WiFi service for SIP calls
(Where the NBN is already set up)
Other devices would also connect to
this network, such as tablets and
laptops
