and reconnected. The cause of premature shutdown can be deeply discharged batteries or
large differences between battery temperature and ambient temperature.
4.2.5 Maintenance
Maintenance work is to be carried out solely and exclusively by the workshop of argus
electronic GmbH at the company headquarters. Opening the devices voids all warranty and
can cause damage to the respective devices.
Before each application, a simple visual inspection by the user is recommended to ensure that
all components are ready for use. Among other things, it must be ensured that the elastometer
mechanism is smooth-running, that all devices can be switched on and have sufficient energy,
and that plausible values are output.
If used as intended and handled carefully, the devices can be used for many years without the
need for maintenance or repairs.
4.2.6 Spread of Infestations
Theoretically it cannot be excluded that pathogens are spreaded by the repeated use of the
same fasteners on different trees.
To prevent this, the fasteners should be replaced or disinfected before reuse. This can be done
by heating (> 130 °C for more than 15 minutes; Not for magnets!), concentrated alcohol
(exposure time several hours) or the use of disinfectant for tree care tools (according to the
instructions for use).
4.3 Calibration
All PTQ modules are factory calibrated. This calibration does not deteriorate significantly over
time due to use, so from a technical point of view a new calibration is not mandatory.
After damage or opening a measuring device, a new calibration may be necessary.
If certificates of proper functioning of the measuring instruments are required, they can be sent
to the manufacturer for certification.
