4.2.3 Automatic switch-off
In order to save energy by unintentional switch-on, the devices switch off automatically after a
certain time without key operation and communication.
This is the case after 30 minutes for com unit and sensor modules. The forcemeter switches
itself off after 60 minutes.
To prevent the automatic switch-off from taking effect, you can switch to the measuring mode
shortly before it takes effect. After receiving control commands, the time of the measuring
modules starts running again.
4.2.4 Charging
The modules must only be charged when switched off and at room temperature. Forcemeters,
inclinometers, elastometers and overload warning devices are charged via the com unit. To do
this, connect the power supply unit with the power cable to the grid and with the plug to the
socket of the com unit marked DC-IN. The modules are connected to the three sockets of the
com unit with the short charging cables. The data cables are not suitable for charging.
During the charging process, the green LED next to the socket lights up. If it switches off, the
connected device is fully charged.
If the device is switched on after the charging process is complete, it should indicate a battery
voltage of 2.8 - 3 V.
CAUTION!
Do not switch on the devices during charging!
If more measuring modules are to be charged than there are charging channels available, they
must be charged one after the other. Sensor modules must always be connected directly to
the com unit for charging.
The sensors must not be charged via the data cable manifold!
To change the sensor to be charged, the power supply plug must not be removed from the
com unit. This can damage the battery of the com unit.
Instead, the plug of the charging cable must be removed from the fully charged sensor module
and plugged into the next device to be charged.

As an alternative to the usual charging via the com unit, the PTQ eightfold charger can be
ordered. This takes over the charging function of the com unit for up to eight modules
simultaneously. This charger can be operated with the power supply of the com unit if the
number of poles (two or four) of the DC-IN socket matches.
NOTE
The self-discharge of the accumulators is roughly estimated at 1% per day.
Check the condition of stored devices from time to time and charge them every few months.
NOTE
If the charging LED switches off after an unusually short time, an early switch-off has
occurred. Check the temperature of the device. If it is higher than the ambient temperature,
the full battery can no longer absorb the energy and is already converting it into heat. In this
case further charging may destroy the battery. Otherwise, the device should be disconnected
