Chapter 3. Installing the Base Station IDU
Step 3. Connect cables to the WSC and MSC card.
A. On any of the WSC cards (WSC-48 shown in the picture below) in QWAD, con-
nect one end of the outdoor coax cable (IF port cable) to the WSC card (See
Figure 3-7
) and the other end to the base station radio (As demonstrated in Section
4.3 in Chapter 4).

In a single sector WSC, connect one end of the IFport cable to the WSC card (See
Figure 3-8
) and the other end to a base station radio (As demonstrated in Section 5.3
in Chapter 5) .

B. On the MSC card,
i. For connection to Management port (RS 232 or 10/100 Base-T):
- Use one end of a RJ11 Connector with DB 9 Serial Cable and connect to
the management port on the MSC card as seen in
Figure 3-9
. Connect the
other end of the serial cable to the ethernet port on a computer or switch.
