Offboard IDE Controller

If not using the onboard IDE controller, you can use either an ISA IDE controller card or a PCI IDE controller card. IRQs 14 and 15 are
reserved for the IDE primary and secondary IDE controllers no matter which IDE controller is used. IRQs 14 and 15 are available on the PCI or
ISA bus if IDE controllers are not used. To use an offboard IDE controller:

Insert the IDE controller card. If installing a PCI IDE controller card, note the PCI slot
number the card is installed in.

Boot the computer. Press <Del> to run WINBIOS Setup. Choose Peripheral Setup. Set

Disabled.

If installing a PCI IDE controller card, set

Offboard PCI IDE Card

to the PCI slot

where the IDE controller card is installed (Slot1 - Slot3).
If using only one IDE controller channel and the offboard IDE controller card is in PCI
slot1 on the motherboard, set

to INTA.

If using both IDE controller channels and the offboard IDE controller card is in PCI
slot 1 on the motherboard, set

Offboard PCI IDE Card Uses

to INTA for the primary

channel and INTD for the secondary channel.

If using only one IDE controller channel and the offboard IDE controller card is in PCI
slot3 on the motherboard, set

to INTA.

slot3 on the motherboard, set

If installing an ISA IDE controller card, go to the next step.

Set the Primary Master, Primary Slave, Secondary Master, and Secondary Slave IDE
options for Block Mode, PIO Mode, LBA Mode, and 32-Bit Transfer Mode as
appropriate for the IDE drives that you have installed.
