Supply cables to hoists and lifts with VFC
(Variable Frequency Converter)
The size of the power supply cable must always comply with
Rules and Regulations stipulated by the local Authority for
electrical installations. Customer’s power supply cable must
also be sized to ensure that the voltage drop in the Base panel
does not exceed 3% when starting with full load with the hoist
moving in the upward direction.
The size of the power supply cable can be calculated by follo-
wing formula:
a = L x P x 0.0056... ...where
a = Conductor area in mm 2 copper
L = Length in m of the power supply cable from distribution
board to the Base panel
P = Drive motor power in kW on the hoist
IMPORTANT! The power supply cable must be sized accor-
ding to the drive motor power installed on the hoist. Minimum
size of the supply cable is shown on the table above. The table
refers to supply voltage 400V to 460V, 50/60Hz.

* In order to avoid single phasing should a main fuse blow, we strongly recommend the power supply to be fused
by means of a three-phase circuit breaker.
