via SYNC key - This selects that the DD8 will generate the timecode at the
selected frame rate when the SYNC key is ON.
ADVANCED TIMECODE OPTIONS
A new page has been added with options to control subtle features concerning the DD8’s re-
sponse when chasing timecode.
The ADVANCED TIMECODE OPTIONS page is a new ‘hidden’ page accessed by pressing
ENTER + F1 on the SYSTEM SYNC page.

The REVERSE CHASE field allows playback audio to be muted while the transport is chasing
reverse timecode. This can be useful when the DD8 is being controlled from an older synchroniser
that does not support random access machines. Often, these devices spool to locate to a new
position which can result in annoying bursts of audio from random access machines
The options for the REVERSE CHASE field are:
UNMUTED The DD8 will attempt to play audio while chasing reverse timecode.
MUTED
The DD8 will mute playback while chasing reverse timecode.
The MUTE DELAY field determines the delay after locking to incoming timecode until the audio
outputs are unmuted. In multi-machine systems, this field can be set to allow an adequate delay
to allow the playback on all machines to start virtually simultaneously. Note that MUTE DELAY
only affects playback in the forward direction.
The DROP OUT FILTER field determines the approximate drop-out length (in frames) which will
cause the DD8 to stop playback or drop out of record. The recommended value is 15. A shorter
length is useful for forcing playback to stop more abruptly when the timecode source is stopped.
Note however that a short length may prevent the machine locking to very slow-moving timecode.
