Teach Mode
Teach mode allows the user to specify up to 100 learned positions. Each learned point
consists of a position , a feedrate and a bit pattern. A move from one position to the
next is initiated by toggling the I/O lines. Up to three I/O lines can be specified for the
move to occur. Each move is equivalent to the following lines of a program:
IT I
1
I
2
I
3
IN distance F feedrate
This means, move distance user units at a feedrate of user units/sec. For example, IT
101 IN 20000 F5000. Wait until the inputs are 101 and then move the motor 20000
user units.
The teach mode can only be run in local mode, (i.e., the user must use either a
Handheld ASCII terminal or the DOS program COM_BAI.exe). Teach mode is
entered by pressing T.
3.6.1. Using the Teach Program
After entering teach mode on the BAI, the user will see the following screen in
Figure 3-14. A teach program “ends” when both position and feedrate are zero. The
user can upload and download teach programs to and from the PC.
When teaching programs, the unit will default to incremental mode, however, all
the positions are interpreted as absolute positions when the program is run.

Teach Mode Screen
The first line of this screen shows the motors current position (scaled by PRM:200).
The second, third and fourth lines show the position, velocity and I/O pattern for the
current index. In this case, the index is zero. The bottom right part of the screen shows
the various options available to the user. The following sections describe these options.
