Changing Windings and Testing Taps  

Changing Winding Connections 

If you need to change the winding connections: 

1. Press 

the 

Test/Dump 

button to interrupt the current 

injection. 

2.  Change the winding connections. 

3.  Update the winding names in the 

Unit Definition

 

window.  

4. Press 

the 

Test/Dump

 button again to take new 

readings.  

This can be repeated as many times as necessary, until 
you press the 

End & Record Session

 button on the 

default toolbar to save the manual file. 

Testing Tap with On-load Tap Changer 

To test a tap on a transformer with an on-load tap changer 
(LTC), you must first connect the DWR-10 to the tap 
changer control circuit.  

1.  Review the tap changer control drawings and connect 

the DWR-10's tap changer leads to appropriate points 
in the control circuit.  

2.  Ensure that the voltage and current at these points do 

not exceed the ratings of the DWR contacts. 

3.  Ensure the current is on. 

4.  Raise or lower the taps by pressing the 

Tap Changer 

button through the range.  

5. Edit 

the 

Tap 

field.
