Connecting to Device
Ensure that the device to be tested is isolated and
de-energized prior to testing.
Isolated devices may have induced voltages on
their terminals in the range of several kilo-volts.
Check that voltage levels are safe before making
connections.
Although the DRM-100 can withstand up to 1000
VAC of induced voltage on its input terminals, for
operating personnel, it is advisable that one side of
the device under test be grounded and that the
device contacts remain closed throughout the test.
When making connections to a device, it is very important
that the surface contacts be as clean as possible. If the
readings, during the test appear erratic, recheck all test
lead connections and repeat the test.
•
Connect the green lead from the bare metal binding
post on the DRM-100 to ground (earth)
•
Connect current and potential test leads to the DRM-
100
•
Connect the potential test leads to the device under
test (DUT). Place the connections as close as possible
to portion of the circuit to be measured.
•
Connect the current leads to the DUT. Place the
current connections “outside” the potential/voltage
connections. Do not let the potential and current
connections touch each other.
