7.2.2 Automatic BMC LAN Configuration

Some external tools and mechanisms are responsible for the LAN configuration. The
SOL-Proxy uses IPMI commands via the IPMB to gather the BMC LAN configuration. If
the SOL-Proxy is running on the ShMC payload and not on the ShMC CPU, the
SOL-Proxy might bridge the commands via the payload interface.

The SOL-Proxy will get the Hardware address from the configuration file. Using the
Hardware/IPMB address, the Proxy will ask the BMC for LAN configurations. The Proxy
needs to know the Hardware address and the LAN channel number.

7.3 Network

Make sure the ShMC can access all the BMCs’ IP address.
