2.3 CPU Blade MIC-8301
Advantech’s MIC-8301 is a single processor micro-server blade, which is based on the
Intel
®
Xeon E5-2600v3/v4 series EP processor and C610 PCH, fitting into the market
for the server market prioritizing efficiency and networking.
The MIC-8301 enables the up to date x86 CPU technology in micro blade form factor
with up to 14 cores and 28 threads of processing power, fast PCI Express Gen.3 lanes
running at up to 8Gbps. With four DDR4 DIMMs running up to 2400MT/s, can also
support memory densities up to 128GB.
The MIC-8301 supports two 2280 M.2 SSD, can support storage capacities up to 1TB
(2x512GB).
The MIC-8301 supports one mini-USB console port for Management Interface, and the
fabric connection is implemented by two XL710 to get two 40GBASE-KR4 connections.

The MIC-8301 includes two 40Gbps network ports in KR4 for the data plane Interface
and dual 10GbE ports in KR for the control plane Interface. Besides, one GbE port in
1000Base-KX for management purpose.
2.3.1 Data/Control Plane Interface
The MIC-8301 could be the control blade in a MICROSERVER system, so it loads the
OS/Application from build-in M.2 SSD. The system control/process packet is delivered
via Ctrl/Data plane Ethernet Switch to decide the packet flow for balance. It means
more CPU core and high Ethernet bandwidth can get high performance/efficiency for
Ethernet packet process in overall Ctrl/Data plane path.
2.3.2 Ethernet Management
An Ethernet controller is implemented on the MIC-8301 for management GbE. This
Ethernet controller is powered by the management power plane in order to support
IPMI-over-LAN and HPM.2 when payload is not powered.
