6.2.2 Network Interface
In a normal System configuration the Shelf Manager has access to all 12 Node Blades
via BCM5396 and additional access to the front panel via BMC53115.
All interfaces have an IPMI channel associated. This allows an easy management of
the IP addresses by simply using IPMI commands.

6.2.2.1 Changing the Network Configuration
The Self Manager Network Configuration can be changed in two ways, using the built
in command line interface (CLI) or using the standard IPMI command for
“Set Lan
Configuration”
.
Details about the CLI usage can be found in the
6.3 Shelf Manager Command Line
, the raw IPMI command is defined in the IPMI specification chapter 23.
The IPMItool provides an easy way to change the Network configuration, without the
need of a deeper knowledge of the IPMI raw commands.
Please see the following example, how to change the IP address of channel 2 to
192.168.1.1.
ipmitool lan set 2 ipaddr 192.168.1.1
6.2.2.2 Network Protocols to Access the Shelf Manager
The ShMC supports a LAN interface providing RMCP/RMCP+ according to the IPMI
2.0 specification additionally the ShMC provides a Secure Shell (SSH) for remote login.
6.2.2.2.1 RMCP/RMCP+
IPMI over LAN (IOL) uses RMCP as messaging protocol as defined in the IPMI
specifications. RMCP messages consist of the basic IPMI message with some RMCP
specific overhead and use the UDP protocol for data transmission.
The
shows the supported Cipher Suits, Cipher Suit 0 is disabled and not
available due to security concerns.
