Wiring Information and Procedures
Craft Connection
Connect one end of the DB-9 female connector of the cable to the communications port on
the Craft computer and the other end to the Craft port on the ML600 front panel. Make sure
the DB-9 connector is locked in the port.
Cabling Instructions for Copper-Pair Interfaces

Caution:
Before wiring the system, check to make sure that equipment rack and Main
Distribution Frame (MDF) are properly grounded.
1. Insert the RJ-45 connector into the Copper Loops port on the ML600 rear panel, see
figure
(on page 15).
2. Punch down/wrap the split-pair ends of the copper pairs to the appropriate assignments
on the Main Distribution Frame (MDF).
Cabling Instructions for Aux Port
The following procedure is optional for future use with PFU-8 unit. Not supported in R5.00.
The RJ-45 plug connector of the cable to the Aux port on the ML600 rear panel and the other
end to the designated port on the
PFU-8. Make sure the RJ-45 connectors are locked and secure in the ports.
Wiring Instructions for Environmental Alarm Inputs
Connecting the wires:
To connect the wires to the alarm IN1 (and COM) and IN2 (and
COM) inputs:
1. Remove 3/8” (10 mm) of insulation from the ends of one black and one red -24 AWG
wires (any wire gauge of 26-18 AWG is acceptable).
2. In the IN1 Alarm Terminal Block on the rear panel, use a Phillips #0 screwdriver to loosen
the terminal block screw.
3. Insert one wire end into the IN1 Alarm Terminal Block.
4. Tighten the terminal block screw.
5. Gently pull the wire to make sure it is held in place.
6. In the COM Alarm Terminal Block on the rear panel, use a Phillips #0 screwdriver to
loosen the terminal block screw.
7. Insert one wire end into the COM Alarm Terminal Block. Optionally, the COM input may
not be used as a return for IN1 / IN2 in case where external grounding is available.
8. Tighten the terminal block screw.
9. Gently pull the wire to make sure it is held in place.
