2 Safety
TIG cold-wire feeder
2.5 Special Warnings for Operation
The discharging of charged objects and electrostatic discharges from individuals do not normally result in injuries.
Regardless of the energy of the discharge, there may nevertheless be a risk of accidents due to startled reactions.
2.6 Warning and notice signs
The following warning and notice signs can be found on the product:
These markings must always be legible. They must not be covered, obscured, painted over or removed.
2.7 Emergency information
In case of emergency, immediately disconnect the following supplies:
• Elektrische Energieversorgung
• Gaszufuhr
Further measures can be found in the operating instructions for the power source or the documentation for other peripheral
devices.
NOTICE
• Owing to the high electric field strength during the ignition process, atmospheric charging may occur around the cold
wire feeder systems ABIDRIVE V2 in unfavorable conditions. However, this atmospheric charging has relatively low
energy and dissipates after the ignition process.
• To avoid any possible atmospheric charging, we recommend establishing a potential equalization between the
welding device and cold wire feeder system. A corresponding connection cable is available for this, which is included
in the scope of delivery for new devices. For devices that are already in use, this connection cable is available as a
spare part and can be retrofitted at any time.
DANGER
Personal injury and property damage from electrostatic charge
During the ignition process and when welding, the surroundings and individuals may become electrostatically charged.
When earthed objects or devices are touched, this built-up voltage is discharged. Electrostatic discharge occurs.
• Do not touch any metal parts in or on the device during the ignition phase.
• Connect the ABIDRIVE only to properly earthed power sockets.
• Operate the ABIDRIVE only with an intact connection lead with a protective conductor and safety plug.
• Only place the welding torch on insulated materials when it is in use.
DANGER
Personal injuries and material damage
Risk of shock from touching metal parts and the electrostatic discharge created by them.
• Protect yourself against falling before working on platforms, ladders or scaffolding.
• When welding, use the ground cable and welding torch as intended and do not use them for other purposes.
• Do not use any ground cables or welding torches with damaged insulation.
• Do not touch any live parts with your bare skin.
