established for TMS or ECT in patients who have an
implanted neurostimulation system. Induced electrical
currents may cause heating, especially at the lead
electrode site, resulting in tissue damage.
Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS).
Do
not place TENS electrodes so that the TENS current
passes over any part of the neurostimulation system. If
you feel that the TENS device may be interfering with
your neurostimulator, discontinue using the TENS device
until you talk with your physician.
Overcommunicating with the IPG.
Use your patient
controller to communicate with your IPG only when
needed because excessive communication with the IPG
can shorten the remaining battery life.
