8.6 Climbing stairs - Downwards
NOTE - It is mandatory to observe the safety instructions in chapter 8!
DANGER - As soon as the climbing leg starts taking the load you will feel the handles pulling.
Tilt the s-max closer to the ground to counteract!
Adjust neutral position.
» The climbing leg must be
completely retracted.
Tilt the s-max and keep it
balanced.
Push the s-max forward until
the safety brakes engage.
Press the UP/DOWN switch
in the DOWN direction.
»
If the single-step mode has
been activated, keep UP/
DOWN switch pressed until
s-max stops by itself.
The s-max climbs down.
Push the s-max forward until
the safety brakes engage.
Repeat procedure starting
with fi gure 4.
Climbing stairs downwards - spiral stairs
When moving on spiral stairs, the same steps as just described
must be carried out.
Please note:
For spiral stairs, the s-max must be aligned
according to the spiral of the stairs. Both wheels must come
back into contact with the edge of the stairs during each climbing
procedure.
Manufacturer’s recommendation:
Single-step mode
activated.

The s-max must not be used
on unsuitable stairs, as this
could cause it to slip off the
