After an emergency use of this equipment, the entire Fire Fighter Self-Rescue
Accessory must be replaced before the respirator is returned to service.
After you have terminated use of the respirator, the respirator must be removed
from service and tagged for repair by authorized personnel. The SCBA with
the Fire Fighter Self-Rescue Accessory must be thoroughly inspected and
components replaced before being returned to service.
ANY ESCAPE ROPE THAT IS USED FOR AN ACTUAL EMERGENCY ESCAPE
MUST BE DESTROYED AFTER USE BY CUTTING INTO 1 FT LENGTHS TO
PREVENT REUSE BY ANOTHER PARTY.
ANY COMPONENT OF THE FIRE FIGHTER SELF-RESCUE ACCESSORY THAT
IS JUDGED TO BE UNUSABLE FOR ANY REASON MUST BE DESTROYED
AND REPLACED BEFORE THE RESPIRATOR IS RETURNED TO SERVICE.
Depending on the evaluation of the authorized service personnel, other
parts or components, or the entire assembly may need to be replaced after
emergency use.
WARNING
ANY ESCAPE ROPE THAT IS USED FOR AN
ACTUAL EMERGENCY ESCAPE MUST BE
DESTROYED AFTER USE. ANY COMPONENT OF
THE FIRE FIGHTER SELF-RESCUE ACCESSORY
THAT IS JUDGED TO BE UNUSABLE FOR
ANY REASON MUST BE DESTROYED AND
REPLACED BEFORE THE RESPIRATOR IS
RETURNED TO SERVICE. FAILURE TO COMPLY
WITH THESE REQUIREMENTS MAY RESULT IN
A MALFUNCTION OF THE EQUIPMENT WHICH
COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.
REMOVING & REINSTALLING THE JETTISON CLIPS
REMOVING THE JETTISON CLIPS
Two quick release jettison clips pull out from the sides of the waist pad to
separate the SCBA backframe from the waist belt. This allows the user to either
perform a change of profile while continuing use of the respirator, or to terminate
use of the respirator and remove the respirator before escape.
Never remove the SCBA from the Self-Rescue Accessory unless there is a
compelling reason to assume the risk of injury from terminating respiratory
protection in order to facilitate escape.
Use the Quick Release Waist Pad as follows:
1. If equipped with EBSS, the EBSS pouch must be unsnapped from the belt before
releasing the SCBA backframe. Reach around to the back of the waist belt and
firmly grasp the back corner of the EBSS pouch. Pull pouch outward until the snaps
release. On the AIR-PAK X3 Pro or AIR-PAK X3 SCBA, unsnap the fasteners on the
back of the EBSS pouch that connect the pouch to the waist pad belt.
WARNING
NEVER REMOVE THE SCBA FROM THE SELF-
RESCUE ACCESSORY UNLESS THERE IS A
COMPELLING REASON TO ASSUME THE RISK
OF INJURY FROM TERMINATING RESPIRATORY
PROTECTION IN ORDER TO FACILITATE ESCAPE.
TERMINATING USE OF THE RESPIRATOR IN A
HAZARDOUS ATMOSPHERE MAY RESULT IN
SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.
NOTE
THE USER CAN REMOVE THE WAIST
BELT FROM THE BACKFRAME WHILE
WEARING THE RESPIRATOR ONLY
WHEN THE UNIT IS EQUIPPED WITH
THE OPTIONAL JETTISON CLIPS ON
THE AIR-PAK X3 PRO OR AIR-PAK X3
SCBA. THIS OPTION IS
NOT
AVAILABLE
ON THE AIR-PAK 75 SCBA OR ON MOD-
ELS OF THE AIR-PAK X3 PRO AND THE
AIR-PAK X3 WITH FIXED CLIPS.
