REMOVING & REINSTALLING THE FIXED CLIPS

(AIR-PAK X3 PRO ONLY)

On AIR-PAK X3 Pro models equipped with fixed clips, the user can can remove

the fixed clips to detach the full waist pad assembly (waist pad and waist belt)

from SCBA backframe.

The following instructions apply to the AIR-PAK X3

Pro only.

Before removing the waist pad, move to a safe area where respiratory protection

is no longer required. End use of the respirator according to the TERMINATION

OF USE section of the respirator user instructions.

REMOVING THE FIXED CLIPS

1.  If the respirator is equipped with EBSS, the EBSS pouch must be unsnapped from

the belt before releasing the SCBA backframe from the waist belt. Unsnap the fas-

teners on the back of the EBSS pouch that connect the pouch to the waist pad belt.

2.  Push the locking levers on the waist belt buckle forward to unlatch and remove the

belt.

See FIGURE 12.

Doff the respirator according to the TERMINATION OF USE

section of the respirator user instructions.

3.  Set the SCBA on a stable surface with the pressure reducer facing up.
4.

Locate the fixed clip on either side of the backframe. Push the clip inward (toward

the reducer) to release it from the backframe and then pull the clip ends through

the loops of fabric. Set the clip aside. Repeat for the clip on the other side.

5.  Flip the SCBA over so that the pressure reducer faces down.
6.  Fold the waistpad away from the backframe, carefully pulling the fabric loops through

the slots in the backframe.

7.  At the bottom of the backframe, locate the webbing attaching the waist pad to the

backframe. Turn the webbing 90 degrees clockwise or counterclockwise to align

the metal I-bar with the backframe opening and pull it out.

REINSTALLING THE FIXED CLIPS

1.  Set the SCBA on a stable surface with the pressure reducer facing down.
2.  On the waist pad, locate the webbing attached to the metal I-bar. Insert the metal

I-bar into the slot at the base of the backframe and rotate it 90 degrees clockwise

or counterclockwise to “lock” it in place. Ensure that the webbing sits within the

slot. Tug on the webbing to make sure it is securely attached to the backframe.

3.  Fold the waistpad toward the backframe. Carefully pull the fabric loops through the

slots in the backframe.

4.  Flip the SCBA over so that the pressure reducer faces up.
5.

Starting on either side of the backframe, align the fixed clip ends with the openings

in the loops of fabric. Wth the clip’s “hook” pointing down, push the clip ends through

the loops of fabric and “hook” the clip onto the backframe. Repeat for the other side.

6.  If applicable, reattach the EBSS pouch to the waist belt.
