create a who-talks-to-whom matrix on interface 2

he RMON console considers the MSH hub to have a single RMON

probe with multiple interfaces.

You should ensure that you have selected the required interface using

your management application. There will be interfaces for each

ethernet backplane and separate interfaces for each isolated module.

This means that it is possible to obtain statistics for an isolated repeater

as well as for each compound repeater and its modules.

Traffic injected directly onto a backplane, such as that from a switch or

bridge, will only be recorded if there

a Management Module

interface connected to that backplane.

The RMON probe on Smart ethernet modules will provide the first

seven RMON features. However filter and capture features are

implemented on the management module. This restricts their use to

the backplane to which the management module is connected. You

can change the backplane connection. See

Switching Services on the

Backplane

on page 5-34.

MON will run slower if there is an ECS repeater module in the chassis.
