DDI RingBuilder

To use this device you will need the 3C18001 MSH chassis.

An FDDI RingBuilder

(3C18310)

and its associated Port modules will be

recognized by the management module as a service,

FDDI

Concentrator x

, where x is the number of the FDDI ring to which it is

attached.

The general comments about management in the previous

paragraph apply.

If you insert a RingBuilder into a chassis with a management module

present, it will be allocated the lowest available ring number.

If you insert a management module into a chassis with RingBuilders

present which have established their rings, no change will be made to

the numbers

until the chassis is reset.

If two RingBuilders have the same link settings (been assigned the

same ring numbers), the RingBuilder which came up first will assume

the ring number: the other will reboot and remain rebooting until

management assigns it to another ring. This will always have the lowest

available ring number

FDDI 4 Port module (3C18300) and FDDI 6 Port module (3C18301) are

managed by the associated FDDI RingBuilder.

inkSwitch 1200 FDDI module

To use this device you will need the 3C18001 MSH chassis.

A LinkSwitch 1200 FDDI

(3C18640)

module will be recognized by the

management module as a service,

LinkSwitch x

, where x is the slot

number. This will not change if a LinkSwitch Expansion module is

attached.

The general comments about management at the start of

this chapter apply.

LinkSwitch 1200 FDDI module will be reported by the management

module as

LinkSwitch 4 port

. If it has a 6port UTP Expansion module

fitted, it will be reported as

LinkSwitch 4 port 6 UTP
