Monitoring EFW Status
The status windows provide convenient access for you to monitor the status and correct
any displayed problems in the EFW system. You can check the overall status of your
system using the EFW Management Console.
Monitoring Policy Server Status
You can view the status of the Policy Servers using the Management Console. The status
appears in the Policy Server window and indicates whether any Policy Servers have been
detected as operating improperly. The status also highlights any Policy Servers that are out
of synchronization. For example, if an administrator updates a policy on Policy Server A,
but an intermittent network connection prevents Policy Server B from being informed,
another administrator could concurrently update the same policy on Policy Server B.
When the intermittent network problem is resolved, the Policy Servers are out of
synchronization, since they have different data for the same policy.
The Policy Server status appears in one of the following states:
Synchronizing Policy Servers Manually
Under certain conditions, such as network disruptions, the Policy Server displays an
Out of
Synchronization
status. This status generally indicates that the Policy Server to which you
are connected may have different database information for replicated items than the
Policy Server shown in the status. In most cases, the system recovers on its own, but there
may be cases where manual synchronization is required.
If you know of network disruptions in the communication between two Policy Servers in
the same EFW domain, avoid making changes to data on both Policy Servers during this
time period. Making changes may create the need for manual synchronization.

Working Normally
Is functioning normally.
Not Responding
To which you are connected could not contact this Policy Server.
Out of Synchronization
Does not have the same data as the Policy Server to which you are
connected. (See “Synchronizing Policy Servers Manually”
below.)
CAUTION:
If Policy Servers are out of synchronization, replication of data between
Policy Servers no longer takes place until they are brought back into synchronization.
