Assembly
NOTE:
A greater belt tension is required when using
plastic cups rather than steel.
NOTE:
Buckets mounted on lapped belt splices will run
closer to the baffle.

adjust belt tension
Use boot take up assemblies to adjust belt
tension. Tension the belt to remove all slack.
Lower the boot pulley (1) more inch for bucket
elevators under 60’ [18,288 mm] and (2) inches
for elevators above 60’ [18,288 mm]. Perform
steering (centering) action by adjusting one side of
the boot tighter than the other. The belt will move
to the slack side.
The belt must have enough
tension to prevent head pulley slipping under
a full load condition.
There should be no
“rattling” when the elevator runs empty.
27
adjust the discharge baffle
The discharge baffle is located in the head
discharge section. It deflects material from
the buckets to minimize material-return down
the leg (also known as “back-legging”). Adjust
the baffle so it will clear the buckets by 1/8”
(example a)
. This adjustment should be made
when the splice is located at the discharge
baffle. Fasten the hood front and back to the
head housing using the hold down clips.
