NECTING ROD

1. Measure:

crankshaft runout
Out of specification

Replace the crank-

shaft, bearing or both.

NOTE:

Turn the crankshaft slowly.

Maximum crankshaft runout

0.03 mm (0.0012 in)

2. Measure:

big end side clearance
Out of specification

Replace the big end

bearing, crankshaft pin, or connecting rod.

Big end side clearance

0.10~0.40 mm (0.004~0.016 in)

3. Measure:

crankshaft width
Out of specification

Replace the crank-

shaft.

Crankshaft width

45.15~45.20 mm (1.778~1.780 in)

4. Check:

crankshaft sprocket

Damage/wear

Replace the crankshaft.

bearing

Cracks/damage/wear

Replace the
