CHECKING THE AIR FILTER ELEMENT

CHECKING THE AIR FILTER ELEMENT

Never operate the engine without the air filter
element installed. Unfiltered air will cause rapid
wear of engine parts and may damage the
engine. Operating the engine without the air
filter element will also affect the FI tuning, leading
to poor engine performance and possible
overheating.

CAUTION

:

1. Remove:

• seat
• right side cover

Refer to "COWLING AND SIDE COVERS".

2. Remove:

• air filter case cover (right)

• bolts

Air filter cover bolt

2 N.m (0.2 kgf.m, 1.4 ft.lb)

There is a checking hose

1

in the bottom of the air

filter case. If dust and/or water accumulate into this
hose, clean the air filter and the air filter case.
