of the ignition coil.

Actuation
Actuates the ignition coil five times at one-second intervals.
Illuminates the “WARNING” LED on the FI diagnostic tool and the
engine trouble warning light.
Checking method
Check the spark five times.
• Connect an ignition checker.
Probable cause of malfunction Check or maintenance job
1 Connections
• Ignition coil connector (primary coil
side)
• Wire harness ECU coupler
• Check the connector and coupler for any pins
that may be pulled out.
• Check the locking condition of the connector
and coupler.
• If there is a malfunction, repair it and connect
the coupler or connector securely.
2 Open or short circuit in wire harness. • Repair or replace if there is an open or short
circuit.
• Between ignition coil connector and ECU cou-
pler.

3 Defective ignition coil. • Execute the diagnostic mode. (Code No. 30)
• Test the primary and secondary coils for conti-
nuity.
• Replace if defective.
