READING ERROR CODES – FUEL
INJECTION SYSTEM
Reading Codes Using the FI Diagnostic Tool
WARNING
Lock out the vehicle when you perform this
procedure. Refer to “SAFETY LOCKOUT
PROCEDURE” on page 1-2. Unexpected ve-
hicle movement could result in severe injury
or death to persons inspecting or repairing
the utility vehicle or bystanders.
1. Remove the cap “1” from the diagnostic plug
located behind the battery.
2. Plug the connector from the FI Diagnostic
Tool into the diagnostic plug.
3. Turn the main switch to the “ON” position.
4. The green light will be on “1” and the yellow
warning light “2” will be on.
5. The screen will display “Waiting for Connec-
tion...”.
TIP
The accelerator pedal must be pushed down
and the engine rotated, to read error codes,
even if the engine will not start.
6. Push the accelerator pedal down to start the
engine.
7. With the engine running, the screen will dis-
play engine rpm and engine temperature.
8. If there are error codes, both the green power
light “1” and the yellow warning light “2” will be
on.
9. Release the accelerator pedal to shut the en-
gine off. Leave the main switch on.
10.If there is an active error code, the yellow
warning light “1” will remain on.
11.The error code, in this case S/D: 22, will be
displayed below the engine rpm and engine
temperature. For error code identification and
description, refer to “DIAGNOSTIC/ERROR
CODE IDENTIFICATION CHART (YUM1A/
YUM2A)” on page 9-4.
12.If there is more than one error code, the first
code will flash for several seconds, and then
the next code will display and then the next
code, etc. After the cycle ends, it will restart.
13.Once the problems have been fixed, turn the
main switch on and restart the engine. Only
the green power light “1” should be on, and
the screen will display engine rpm and engine
temperature.
