a. Mark both tie-rods ends.
This reference point will be needed during
adjustment.
b. Loosen the locknuts (tie-rod end) of both
tie-rods.
c. The same number of turns should be given
to both the right and left tie-rods until the
specified toe-in is obtained. This is to keep
the length of the rods the same.
d. Tighten the rod end locknuts of both tie-
rods.
Adjust the rod ends so that A and B are equal.
CHECKING THE FRONT AND REAR SHOCK
ABSORBERS
1. Place the machine on a level surface.
2. Check:
•
damper rod
Bends/damage
→
Replace the front/rear
shock absorber assembly.
•
oil leakage
Excessive oil leakage
→
Replace the front/
rear shock absorber assembly.
•
cylinder
Damage
→
the front/rear shock absorber
assembly.
•
spring
Fatigue
→
the front/rear shock absorber
assembly.
Refer to “FRONT ARMS AND FRONT SHOCK
ABSORBER ASSEMBLIES” and “REAR
SHOCK ABSORBER AND SWINGARM”
in chapter 8.
3. Check:
•
operation
Pump the shock absorbers up and down for
several times.
Unsmooth operation
→
Replace the front/
rear shock absorber assembly.
Refer to “ADJUSTING THE REAR SHOCK
ABSORBERS”.

35 Nm (3.5 m·kg, 25.3 ft·lb)
