CPA operating instructions
Temperature range
The hoists can be operated at an ambient temperature between -20°C
and +50°C. Consult the manufacturer in case of extreme working
conditions.
Note:
At ambient temperatures below 0°C, check the brake for ice
formation.
Theoretical duration of service
The CPA 1-13, 2-10 and 5-5 series hoists are classified in group of
mechanisms 1Am/M4 according to FEM/ISO, the CPA 2-31, 5-17 and
10-9 series hoists in group of mechanisms 1Bm/M3. For the bases of
calculating the theoretical duration of service, refer to the regulations of
BGV D8. Upon reaching the theoretical duration of service, a general over-
haul of the air chain hoist must be carried out (see also 8. Maintenance).
Regulations
Before the initial operation an inspection must be carried out by a com-
petent person in accordance with the accident prevention act valid for the
respective country and area where the product is used, and in accordance
with the commonly accepted regulations for safe and professional work.
In Germany, these are the accident prevention regulations BGV D6, BGV
D8, BGR 500 of the Industrial Employers’ Mutual Insurance Association.
Maintenance/repair
Correct operation involves compliance with the operating instructions
and in addition also compliance with the inspection and maintenance
conditions. In case of functional defects or abnormal noise is to be heard
stop using the hoist immediately.
Note:
Always disconnect the compressed air supply before starting any
repair and maintenance work!
3. INCORRECT OPERATION
• Do not exceed the load capacity of the hoist.
• Do not lift fixed or obstructed loads.
• Do not use the hoist for the transportation of people (Fig. 4).
• Welding on hook and load chain is strictly forbidden. The load chain
must never be used as a ground connection during welding (Fig. 5).
• Side pull, i. e. side load on either housing or bottom block (Fig. 6)
is forbidden.
Always lift, pull or tension within a straight line between both hooks.
• The load chain must not be used for lashing (sling chain) (Fig. 7).
• Do not knot the load chain or shorten it by using pins, bolts, screw driv-
ers or similar (Fig. 8). Do not repair load chains installed in the hoist.
• Do not remove the safety latch from the suspension or load hooks
(Fig. 9).
• Do not use the lifting limitation sections (chain stop) as an operational
limit device (see Fig. 10 – chain stop).
• Do not allow the hoist to fall from a large height. Always place it pro-
perly on the ground.
• The longitudinal gradient of the beam may not exceed 0,3%.
• Enlarging the adjusted trolley width, e.g. to enable the trolley to negoti-
ate smaller curves, is forbidden.
• Any modifications of the hoist or trolley are prohibited.
• Load can not fall into the loose chain - risk of chain break!
• Never attach the load to the tip of the hook (Fig. 17). The load must
always be seated in the saddle of the hook. This also applies to the
suspension hook.
