Chapter 5 - MEMORY EXPANSION MODULE INSTALLATION
5.1 I N T R O D U C T I O N
The XVME-956/101 Memory Expansion Module (MEM) is an embedded system module which
provides a convenient means to expand your Xycom VME AT system. I n addition, with the use of the
XVME-971 MS-DOS Solid State Disk software package, the XVME-956/101 allows replacement of
mechanical disk drives for use in embedded systems.* The XVME-956/101 MEM four byte-wide
memory sockets are organized into two groups of two sockets each. Each group can be configured for
a different type of memory device, allowing many possible memory configurations. A l l of the 32 to
512 Kbyte static RAMs, as well as many types of Flash EPROMs are supported.
This chapter describes how to configure and install the memory expansion module. Before using the
memory expansion module, install the memory devices and verify the jumper settings.
