Cause The fuel quantity piston moves less than 4% during the injection.
Remark:
This alarm is first transmitted after three revolutions.
Procedure
Remark:
If the engine operates at very low load, this failure usually occurs because of the
small fuel quantity.
⇒
Do a check of the rail valve.
⇒
Make sure that the fuel viscosity is in the permitted range.
⇒
Make sure that the hydraulic piston in the exhaust valve drive moves freely.
Remark:
If the vessel operates in rough sea, this failure can occur during fast load changes.

Cause Sensor signal is more than 18 mA. The fuel quantity piston makes a fuel stroke because the
return command is not transmitted correctly.
Procedure
⇒
Do a check of the rail valve position.
⇒
If the rail valve stays in the inject position, do a check of the injection control valve.
⇒
If the injection control valve stays in the open position, make sure that the oil return pipe is not
clogged or closed.
⇒
Make sure that the fuel viscosity is in the permitted range.
⇒
Examine the fuel injectors and pipes for leaks.

Do a check of the related LED on the FCM

If the red LED comes on, do a check of the cables on the related FCM

and X23 for for correct connections and / or damage.

Do a check of the terminating resistor on FCM

20 #01 and the FCM

20 on the last cylinder (or
the on-line spare FCM
−
20 #00) plug X22 between terminals 49/59 and plug X23 terminals

⇒
If the terminating resistors are serviceable, repair or replace damaged cables.
⇒
if the failure occurs on one module only, replace the related FCM
