The following explanations relate to the illustration above
There are two possible options for operating the calf feeder.
a)
constant concentration
= Same percentage of milk powder for all animals
In order to use a constant concentration for the feed, feed option1 (located under the ”Basic
Powder Concentration” field) must be set to
0
= Only entitled calves can take remaining portions. The concentration of the
feed is set on the system machine under ”Portion Values, Concentration xxx
g/l” and used for all calves at this feeding station.
or
1
= All calves can take remaining portions. The concentration of the feed is set
on the system machine under ”Portion Values, Concentration xxx g/l” and used
for all calves at this feeding station.
With constant concentration, the feed program only transfers the amounts of feed to be dis-
pensed to individual animals. The milk powder concentration remains the same for all the
calves and is specified at the automatic calf feeder itself and only after that will feeding
commence. Nevertheless, the
Basic Powder Concentration
for calculating the powder con-
sumption in DP5 must be set to the same value as the concentration on the system machine
(eg
0.120
for 120 g/litre); this has no effect on the actual making up of the feed and is only
required for calculating feed consumption.
”0.500” is entered as the
Portion Weight
as a portion made up in the automatic feeder cor-
responds to 1/2 a litre of feed.
In the case of
Supplementary Feed
, it should be noted that in the Setup menu the percen-
tage per portion is specified -- and not the amount per litre. For example, if you want to feed
